Compassion: Way To Happiness

>> Tuesday, January 5, 2010

Before really delving into the thoughts dealing with today's agenda I would start off with the idea of being happy. Happiness is nothing but is a state of mind as worries are. Both dwell in us feeding on the thoughts we tame . Yes, thoughts are the key factor which make us the way they emerge in us. I believe that our brain is far more powerful than a TV transmitter which is capable of interacting with microwaves. By this connotation I mean to say that one's mental status is greatly judged by the way one thinks.

Death is one of the chief reasons that make people unhappy through a process of "fear". Many people live life in a fear of being killed or losing their lives. Well, according to elementary physics whole universe is made up of matter and energy which can't be destroyed or created. Transition from one state of matter to another take place. Life is a form of energy, if it is anything. Since energy or matter can't be destroyed then ofcourse life cannot be destroyed. Death is just a process which encompasses procedure of transition of life to another form- death. So, I think its not a thing to worry about. One cannot change the course of nature and it can be done then it indeed awaits calamity..

Of late I was enlightened on the term COMPASSION. What is it really? The answer is that it's nothing but A deep awareness of and sympathy for another's suffering. Does it brings about happiness to others, or it brings happiness to oneself? This is a question which may echo. Compassion is a way to the destination of the journey of life which employs itself in finding HAPPINESS. Yes, happiness is the effect of true and real compassion.

Compassion are of two types, biased compassion and unbiased compassion with former having its seeds sowed in us from the day we are born. Perhaps, the first preaching in our life is COMPASSION which we learn from the person who bear us in her womb. It's a natural compassion and is biased one, but it alone doesn't suffice the existence of real compassion. COMPASSION is not complete until its unbiased. Elephant is declared as one of the most compassionate living being on this earth.

Millions and trillions of money doesn't quench the thirst of a person on his death bed. The only thing what comes to his rescue is the contenment from the deeds he did when he was alive. Satisfaction also comes with its comrades ready to his rescue. Well, I think you must be thinking the about the sense which is being projected by being rescued. Its not regaining the life, its embracement of death in most gracious way..

In a concluding note I would like to emphasis on the act of being compassionate. It's a certain way to happiness and success which comes to deserving people. A idea struck my mind that one should not owe much from this world as it came before you did....

Be happy my friends as this is the way to intervene the divine power..

We are here for a reason.

Having a happy life is easier than you might think. I have made the decision after listening to the Dali Lama that it is up to me to have a happy life. So How do I do that? I have been thinking on it and trying some new things to see what works.

First, I discussed this with my family. All of them agreed that looking outside myself for happiness is not the way to go. Happiness is always inside you. You can be in very happy situations and surrounded by very happy people and still not feel happy within yourself. Only you can change what you feel inside yourself.

Secondly, I spoke with my friends about this. For the past few weeks, the topic has come up in many conversations. The final conclusion does not change though. We have all come to an agreement. Happiness is something you can control. How is up to each person and situation, but it is under your own control. Where do I go from here?

I have been looking at my own thought patterns. What thoughts come to my mind and how I treat them. Upon realizing that not all my thoughts are positive in outlook, actually many are quite negative, it has become important to me and my happiness to learn to control them. It is much more difficult that I expected. I suppose the habits of 62 years of life on this earth in this lifetime has ingrained some negative ideas firmly enough to make them difficult to remove. Now comes the work.

Fortunately, I have some great friends who are helping me to learn this. I have found great resources here for learning. Check out this site! The amount of knowledge to be found there is huge!

I Can't Believe What I Believe

>> Saturday, December 12, 2009

All of us know that we should not believe anything that cannot be proved with sufficient evidence. But i tend to believe a lieing friend more than the honest stranger WHY? When something bad happens say for instance I have a small accident, I believe that I was lucky to have escaped with a minor injury and averted from a major mishap. WHY?

People have a strong tendency to believe what they want to believe even though the consequences of their beliefs may be quite harmful to them. George Santayana once said:
Most people would rather die than think -- in fact, they do.

I think that We usually have an emotional attachment to our beliefs. They are part of self-identification., so we try to preserve them.

There is a strong belief among many Indians that death occurs if a lizard falls on the head. To avoid the death he has two options; one is touching the idol of gold and silver
lizard in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, and another is to touch the person who has touched the
idols of lizards.

I am sure we all have some strange beliefs and practices or habits, but why are we unable to overcome them?

Life And Emotions

>> Sunday, November 29, 2009

“Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it”.

I would like to state a fact which many don’t realize that how you respond to the challenge in the second half will determine what you become after the game... whether you are a loser or winner. Everyday one has a choice to make. The choice is to rule or get ruled by the day. True courage, success and happiness are all matter of choice. If one says I can’t get a good sleep because of worries I have. I would say him not to hanker for a good sleep but to do something constructive at that time. Being worried is a state of mind that phase out with the use of correct action.

Yes, action is what I mean. Action is the word which kindles the dead spirit. It lets one rise high with positive vibration to the limit of sky. The action need not be a massive one. It can be a call which you can make to your loved one, it can be listening of music, it can even be a gossip with friends. The focus of mine is to exaggerate the real meaning of action. Action is obviously judged and conducted by matter of priority one has. Actions are determined by choice and choice brings about decisive changes in one's life.

Chance and choice are different entity. Choice is what you make with your senses where chance is the product of coincidence. A gambler wins lump sum of money by chance but it was the choice he made of gambling. Fear, lust, over sexual indulgence is all result of choice one make. The transmutation of these negative emotions to positive emotions is matter of choice too.

Infamous personalities like Edison, Henry Ford, bill gates and many others achieved their goal as they made a choice to overpower negative emotions-- fear, jealousy, hatred, revenge, greed, superstition and anger with the positive emotions --- Desire, faith, Love, enthusiasm, and romance. Among the enlisted positive emotions SEX is strongest and most effective stimuli. However, this energy when transmuted to another channels brings about success and peace.

The most common reason of failure is Procrastination. It’s a habit which caries one steps ahead towards failure. This has been the most prominent reason of failure of which one become aware when he has reached on the porch of failure. Well, some will in my opinion believe that thoughts, be it negative or positive gets transmitted through the ethereal medium and has an impact of it on the people around. The notable agenda is that before a thought being broadcasted it makes a safe place in the subconscious mind of its bearer. Negative thoughts can be given another form by tremendous will power and a positive attitude. I must let you know that before really affecting someone by your thoughts, its you who gets first affected

In a summing up sense, I in nutshell would like to squeeze the real sense of the article you read. The article laid emphasis on breeding of Positive emotions like:

Desire
Faith
Love
Enthusiasm
And romance

and completely discarding of the negative emotions like:

Fear
Jealousy
Hatred
Revenge
Greed
Superstition
And anger

Friends.

What are they?
Who are they?
How do you know you have a friend?

Everyone needs friends whether you realize it or not. One reason for this is that no one was meant to stand alone against the entire world. We are people who get further faster when we work together.

How can you tell if someone is a friend? First of all it is a comfort thing. If you have a friend, you feel comfortable with him or her. You can discuss any topic without embarrassment. You can tell him anything. He can tell you anything. Any criticism is delivered without judgement. Any advice is given without prejudice, without expectations and out of the goodness you feel towards that friend.

When something really terrible happens in your life, your true friends are there to support you. With their support, you gain strength you need to overcome obstacles. You can lean on them and they can lean on you when strength is needed.

I have a circle of such friends. Right now I am going through a difficult change in my life and really need them to lean on. Three, in particular, are very good for me now. My Swedish friend helps keep me grounded and cheers me up. My American friend is giving me a lot of things to think about, taking my mind off things I cannot change. My British friend is offering prayer and support in a large way. I know prayer works. I have an Indian friend who, although much younger than I, can offer great wisdom when we speak about the terrible things in our lives.

All of these friends are very special to me and I am so very fortunate to have met them. I would not change any one of them.
