Sitting alone under a tree I was just imagining what may be beyond this wall... Sometimes, we tend to invest lots of our time to see unseen and to know the unknown. Well, when we see the unseen it becomes a thing of beauty and if we know the unknown it's called exploration.....
I hope this piece of photographic work may have been able to explore some of your heart and see its beauty within...
While sitting in the balcony in a serious and contemplating mood I happened to behold two contrasting events that stole my attention away into an abyss where there were many questions that rattled my mind. I saw a person, weak, shabbily dressed and quite old carrying a heap of wooden scraps on his shoulders. Yes, he was a laborer who was supposed to be paid in return of his work. I failed to conclude whether he was the slave of his need or was the slave of the master or whom he did the work. At the same time, through a opening in the window, I saw a person lost in deep slumber lying comfortably in his room. Now, he was also a slave who enjoyed his slavery…
What is a perfectly free person? Evidently a person who can do whatever he likes, doesn’t do what he don’t like. However, this is quite impossible thing. No one can be so free. No one has ever led his life in such a freedom as some necessities enslave him. A person is always a slave of his necessities for he cannot get rid of himself and is ought to attend to his own demands. Whether we are a monarch or a slave we are the slave of our needs which we cannot shirk off. For half of the day we are busy attending to our whim which gets defined as our comfort… yes, we are the slaves of the comfort that seems too lucrative.
Some necessities have to be fulfilled and they give rise to yet other possibilities. As we have to eat as it lets us survive but before eating we must have food, we need to sleep but before really sleeping we need bed and a room, we need to walk on road and to walk we need clothes to cover our nakedness. Needs always give birth to an action that’s also necessary, thus, we become prisoners to our needs. Now, when food can be earned to feed ourselves, it may also be stolen. When we can employ several laborers to get us clothes and lodging they can also protest being so. Thus, it’s all about keeping one’s hand above in the midst of the war called “I want to be served”. So, I would let you all pondering about this said agenda.
Slavery to nature is quite natural and is completely different from the slavery of a man to man- unnatural. Slavery to nature is always enjoyable and very captivating. While, slavery to a man is really suffocating act that squeezes life out of the slave, at the same time slavery to nature bears a mirth that a slave is not oblivious about.
We need to eat and drink to survive; we would eat and drink a lot if it’s affordable. See, we voluntarily accept this slavery. We need to sleep or we will go mad; we would love to be sleeping always. Aren’t we the slave of the nature who accepts all sort of slavery that nature imposes on us? Whereas, the slavery of a man to another man is quite painful, in fact, no person is that good to be another’s master.
I am leaving this issue of ‘slavery’ in your minds and to contemplate on it further… I have a question, what is better- to work for eight to nine hours a day and get retired at the age of 45 earning the pension, or to work for four hours a day and keep working till one gets perished?
I remember. That's the name of this song. I think it is beautiful. She could be talking to God, or to her best friend.
I remember.
I remember feeling very scared as the black sedan came up onto the sidewalk. I remember pulling my two year old brother off the sidewalk and onto the grass and weeds in the empty lot beside my dad's dry cleaning store. I remember all the people yelling at the driver. I remember people coming to see if we were ok. I remember someone saying he was drunk. I remember that the sun was shining and the temperature was nice and warm. It took a long time before my body stopped shivering.
That was 60 years ago. Today I remember that like it was yesterday, but what happened yesterday is already becoming a blur. I remember going to Vancouver with my husband. I remember going in to see some senior's support people in a building on Dunsmuir Street. I remember listening to a lawyer explaining things to us. Things like a power of attorney, a representation agreement, giving over financial and medical control of myself to someone else. I remember the urgency with which she spoke about it. I remember my husband telling me to go put a coin in the parking meter before we got an expensive parking ticket from the city. I remember going downstairs, but I could not remember where the car was. I stopped outside the building and tried to remember which direction we had come from.
I remembered that we could see the building from where we parked. I turned to the right and started walking. It just did not feel right. It did not look familiar. I could not see any cars parked, not ours, not anyone's. I stopped. I looked in every direction from the building. I looked in a circle at least 3 times. Then I closed my eyes. Telling myself to breathe deep and relax, I slowly opened my eyes again. With a great feeling of relief, I saw our car. There it was! parked directly across the street from where I was standing. What a relief!
I turned to the left and walked to the corner. When the light changed, I walked across the street and went to the car. Yes, it was ours. The things inside the car were familiar. So I put the coin in the parking meter and retraced my steps back across the street to the lawyer's office. After I sat down, my husband looked at me and the lawyer asked if I remembered the directions to get back in. I said, yes, no problem. I did not say that I could not find the car right away.
Moments of panic like that are happening once and a while now. It is usually just short loss of what I was doing, or where I was going. Sometimes I forget what I was trying to say. Nothing serious. My husband has been talking with my doctor quite a bit. I am going to the University of British Columbia Hospital for some brain tests and to participate in a medical study. I know something is not quite right in my head. I suppose I will know soon enough what it is.
Still boggles my mind that I can remember something that happened 60 years ago so easily and completely, but I can forget where we left the car just 30 minutes earlier. I forget appointments unless I write them down. I remember when the kids took their first steps, when they cut their first tooth, Where we were living when each of them was born, the house we lived in, and many other things from years gone by. I don't always remember what I did or said 5 minutes ago.
To be continued unless I forget where I am writing this.
I was walking over a 'H' shaped Iron structure that lied over a small accumulation of the water of the river GANGA.
No sooner had I crossed the half of the IRON slabs divided by a horizontal iron slab than my eyeballs caught a chunk of greenery underneath...
I noticed myself standing on the structure that was well above the deep pool. It was really scary!! Was feeling as if I'm tending to lose balance and fall off from there on any side... grrr!!
It taught me that danger, misery, and dangerous plight are there to weaken us but no one but we can find positive in the midst of all these things that pull our legs to 'hell' tapering off the real meaning or sense of LIVING...
I found the GREEN plant underneath that inspired me to go ahead..
Caffeine is a bitter substance found in coffee, tea, soft drinks, chocolate, some nuts and certain medicines. It has many effects on the body's metabolism, including stimulating the central nervous system. This can make you more alert and give you a boost of energy.Teens usually get most of their caffeine from soft drinks and energy drinks. (In addition to caffeine, these also can have added sugar and artificial flavors.) Caffeine is not stored in the body, but you may feel its effects for up to 6 hours.
Many people feel that caffeine increases their mental alertness. Higher doses of caffeine can cause anxiety, dizziness, headaches, and the jitters. Caffeine can also interfere with normal sleep.
Some people are more sensitive to the effects of caffeine than others. They should limit their use of caffeine. So should pregnant and nursing women. Certain drugs and supplements may interact with caffeine. If you have questions about whether caffeine is safe for you, talk with your health care provider.Though moderate caffeine intake isn't likely to cause harm, too much can noticeably affect your health. Heavy daily caffeine use — more than 500 to 600 mg a day, or about four to seven cups of coffee — can cause:
* Insomnia * Nervousness * Restlessness * Irritability * Nausea or other gastrointestinal problems * Fast or irregular heartbeat * Muscle tremors * Headaches * Anxiety
Most adults need seven to eight hours of sleep each night. But caffeine can interfere with this much-needed sleep. Chronically losing sleep — whether it's from work, travel, stress or too much caffeine — results in sleep deprivation. Sleep loss is cumulative, and even small nightly decreases can add up and disturb your daytime alertness and performance.
